Laundry Care For Bamboo Sheets
Can I wash bamboo sheets in a washing machine?
What laundry deterdent can I use?
A mild, liquid detergent works best. If you prefer powder detergent, make sure it has dissolved before adding your bamboo sheets to the wash. Fabric softener is not necessary with our sheets - they are already soft and will stay that way after washing.
Can I use a fabric brightener on my sheets?
We suggest not to use any fabric brightener or whitening detergent with harsh chemicals on your bamboo lyocell sheets. You can try a baking soda and vinegar mixture as a mild ‘bleach’. Start by adding 1/2 cup of baking soda to the wash cycle if machine washing, or at the same time that you add detergent if hand washing. Next, add 1/2 cup of white vinegar during the rinse cycle. These two ingredients help brighten white fabrics. However, it is important to add them during separate cycles and avoid combining them, as this causes a chemical reaction. Please note this method could cause fading on dark colours so use it only with care on light colour or white sheets. You can test the solution first on a hidden area or the bamboo lyocell fabric bag your bedding comes in.
Are there natural solutions for cleaning my sheets?
You can incorporate natural solutions into your washing routine like baking soda and white vinegar mixture. Chemical-free soap nuts are another popular alternative to traditional detergent
Can I machine bamboo sheets and pillowcases?
Yes, you can wash them in the washing machine. Use a cold, gentle cycle, with mild liquid detergent. We would recommend to wash them separately to protect the delicate bamboo shell. You can also use an eco-friendly pre-soak for stain removal.
How should I care for my bamboo bedding?
Please read and follow the attached labels regarding the proper use and care of the product prior to washing your bamboo sheets. We strongly recommend a cold machine wash followed by a line or tumble dry on low. Never add bleach or fabric softener to a wash as it may ruin the fabric. Drying And Stain Removal
How should I dry my sheets?
If possible, line dry your sheets by draping them flat on the line to preserve fibres, colours and texture, you sheets will also straighten out when you line dry them! If you use a dryer, choose a low heat or airing setting and a low tumble cycle. As soon as the dryer finishes, remove your sheets from the dryer immediately to avoid wrinkles.
My sheets look a little wrinkled after washing, should I iron them?
Bamboo fabric drapes very well. Wrinkles from washing and folding gradually go away in a few uses. Lay the sheets flat on your bed after washing and drying, by the time you hit the bed at night, they will be flat and fresh, ready to give you the good nights sleep you deserve. If you are after a crispier look, you can iron them at a low temperature.
I've got stains on my bamboo sheets, what should I do?
Bleach is a no-no when it comes to our delicate bamboo fabric, it is too harsh that it would damage the surface and eat a hole in your sheets. Try a mild, eco-friendly pre-soak and stain remover for removing light stains. If you use a stain remover, we suggest doing a test on the bamboo fabric bag your bedding comes in to make sure the product doesn’t damage the fabric at all.
Do bamboo sheets pill?
As organic bamboo fabric is a natural fabric, you may notice slight pilling with initial use. This can be reduced or removed during the washing and drying process (as per the care instructions). Slight pilling is normal for natural fibres, especially in response to friction and isn't a fault or defect. To prevent excessive pilling, we suggest going to bed with soft clothing. To prevent friction from dry skin and rough patches on feet, try applying moisturiser to affected areas. In case of slight pilling, try to run a de-pilling brush over the fabric gently.
Do bamboo sheets shrink?
You won’t have to worry about your bamboo sheets shrinking as they have been pre-washed and pre-shrunk. We have also included a small margin on the bedding size for unforeseen shrinkage. That said, we do not recommend drying your sheets in high heat.If you have any other questions, let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
